NBA Cup tracker: Suns, Thunder fighting for top spot in West Group A

The Phoenix Suns and Oklahoma City Thunder remain in a battle for the top spot in West Group A in the 2025 NBA Cup with a head-to-head matchup on Friday.
The Suns and Thunder took care of business on Wednesday to remain undefeated in NBA Cup action as the Suns beat the Sacramento Kings, while the Thunder bested the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Suns-Thunder matchup will determine the winner of West Group A. The loser of the game will have to hope for the lone wild-card spot.
The wild card spot will likely come down to a tiebreaker on point differential. The Thunder lead Group A with a +71 point differential, while the Suns (+35) are second in the group and currently in the wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Clippers are battling both teams for the last wild card spot. The San Antonio Spurs (2-1), who are also behind the Suns in the standings, face the Denver Nuggets (2-1) on Friday with the winner of that game winning Group C and the loser being eliminated from NBA Cup contention.
