Martin St-Louis’ latest Joe Veleno decision is becoming hard to ignore

For the last few games, a certain discomfort has been growing around the Montreal Canadiens, because Joe Veleno’s play is really starting to worry many fans.
We are not talking about a small slump for Veleno. We are talking about mistakes that hurt, like the one that led to the Mammoth’s goal the other night.
He completely lost track of his man, and that opened the door to a scoring chance that Jakub Dobes could not stop.
This is exactly what Marc Dumont highlighted in his message: a difficult sequence at a moment when the team could not afford another distraction.
The Veleno-Demidov contrast is becoming hard to ignore
Meanwhile, Ivan Demidov-who, as we know, often changes the tempo as soon as he touches the puck- is still playing very little.
That’s where the questions begin. Many fans do not understand why Martin St-Louis gives so many minutes to a player who is struggling, while Demidov still has to fight for every shift.
Veleno, on the other hand, seems lost in several phases of play, and his mistakes hurt. The more games go by, the more obvious the contrast becomes.
And many now wonder whether the coach will have to rebalance the roles. I share that opinion as well.
Honestly, after what we saw against the Mammoth, it’s hard not to ask the same question.
