A couple of teams that nearly faced off in the 2024 NBA Finals square off for their first of two meetings this season on Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Target Center in Minneapolis where the Minnesota Timberwolves are hosting the Boston Celtics.
This NBA game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on NBC Sports Boston, NBA TV and FanDuel Sports Network North. The Celtics are 10-8, winners of five of their last six and looking to stretch their current winning streak to three games. They’ve been off since Wednesday, when they toppled the top team in the East, the Detroit Pistons, 117-114. Jaylen Brown went for 33 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks while Derrick White added 27 points, seven boards, three steals and a block in victory. White and Brown are both listed as game-time decisions for Saturday. Payton Pritchard dropped 16 points and Baylor Scheierman went for 13 to lead the bench in 30 minutes against the Pistons. However, the deciding moment in the game came when Detroit’s Cade Cunningham, who finished with 42 points, went to the free throw line down 115-112 for three shots. He made the first two and then missed the third. Pritchard went on to make two free throws and then the Pistons failed to get a shot off in their final possession.
The Timberwolves are also 10-8, but they have lost three straight, all on the road. Each of the games came down to the final moments, with the loss in Phoenix to the Suns featuring a 9-0 run capped off by a shot in the final seven seconds to give Minnesota the first loss on the road trip, 114-113. In Sacramento, the Kings took care of business in overtime, 117-112. And in Oklahoma City, the Timberwolves were down 2 late in a rematch of last season’s Western Conference Finals, but let the league’s top team pull away for a 113-105 victory. Anthony Edwards had 41 points, 43 points and 31 points, respectively in those contests, all totals that led the team.
