Sandra Caron dead: Carry On icon and The Crystal Maze star dies after health battle

Carry On star Sandra Caron has died aged 89. She famously appeared alongside her close friend Barbara Windsor in Carry On Camping in 1969 in one of the most well-known scenes where Barbara’s bra flies off while exercising. Sandra also appeared in the original series of Channel 4’s The Crystal Maze.

The actress has multiple credits, according to IMDB, including Digby, an appearance in the TV series Charlie’s Angels, and 1968 film The Bliss of Mrs Blossom. Outside of her career, she was married to actor Brian Greene and they lived in London together until moving to LA in 2015. While they had no children together, it was Marc, one of Brian’s sons from a previous relationship, who shared the news on Sandra.

He said: “Sandra passed away at Cedars Sinai Medical Center on September 1st 2025 of natural causes after about 6 weeks in the hospital for issues relating to extreme weight loss and a few bad falls.

“She was 89 years old. Brian has been moved to an assisted living home near me and is doing as well as a 99-year old man can. Sandra was cremated and her ashes are with Brian for now. They will be interred together, probably at Mount Sinai here, but it hasn’t been finalised.”

Sandra had a close friendship with Barbara Windsor during their time on Carry On together, which she previously said had many cherished memories. She previously praised the fun moments with the “witty” Kenny Williams, alongside praising the joy of working with Barbara Windsor and Hattie Jacques.

Sandra was also the younger sister of sinsger, TV and radio star Alma Cogan, who tragically died at just 34 years old.

She later took on a new surname after training to be an actress at the Aida Foster Theatre School, as an homage to film star Leslie Caron, to avoid just being known as Alma Cogan’s sister.

Sandra took on her last acting role in a 1995 episode of Agony Again alongside Maureen Lipman; she also had her own book published about her sister titled Alma Cogan: The Girl With The Laugh In Her Voice.

Her sister was the highest paid British female entertainer of her era but sadly died from cancer in 1966.
