Cam Heyward speaks the hard truth about the Steelers season

On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers defense offered up very little resistance against the Chicago Bears when the team needed it most. This resulted in a 31-28 loss and the Steelers falling to 6-5. After the game, defensive tackle Cameron Heyward spoke the uncomfortable truth about time running out for this team and the sands are falling through the hourglass.
Heyward and the Steelers defense have been inconsistent all season and have depended so heavily on splash plays that consistent, routine effort is harder to find. On Sunday, against the Bears, the Steelers’ defense has its moments, but this unit has literally become the perfect example of all-or-nothing mentality.
Heyward has extra motivation to get back to the playoffs. Heyward held out during the offseason for a pay raise and ended up getting a bonus package that is tied to the team’s success in the playoffs. This week the Steelers come back home to square off against the Buffalo Bills.
