Amanda Holden keeps no secrets when it comes to football and where her loyalty lies. The Everton fan has been vocal over the years about her love for the club and is regularly spotted at games. While she was a familiar figure at Goodison Park, Amanda hadn’t visited the Toffee’s new home until Saturday.

The Heart Breakfast radio presenter shared her thoughts about the match on Instagram despite a huge defeat to Newcastle, who earned their first away win of the Premier League season in style. She captioned a video from the gameday, Amanda wore a blue and white scarf as she posed on the pitch with her partner, Chris Hughes.

Other pictures from the video appeared to be taken in Liverpool City Centre, with another snap showing the Britain’s Got Talent star smiling as she pointed at a banner with the message “Up the Toffees”, Amanda was also snapped holding a flute of champagne as she stood in the stands.

She wrote on social media: “We may have been absolutely battered by Newcastle but we will be back. We still had a brilliant time in the best city! Thanks to our beloved Everton and amazing new stadium (our first visit!) Up The Toffees.”

Everton manager David Moyes labelled Newcastle “the most powerful team” in the league as they stormed to a 4-1 away win. He said: “We were beaten by the better team, there’s no doubt about that. You mustn’t underestimate, these are a Champions League team.

“We go into it knowing that they’re making sure they’re going to try and get something out of the game. They got off to a great start, we didn’t. Something really to hang on to as well.”

Although the disappointing result was a blow to Everton fans on the back of a triumphant away win at Old Trafford, fans have managed to remain hopeful for the next fixtures. Reacting to Amanda’s post, one fan said: “We will definitely be back, freak first goal and two counter attacks when we were on top, then heads went down and we lost energy, onwards and upwards.”

Another comment said: “Of course Amanda Holden is a blue! Lady of taste. But shame you didn’t bring us more luck” and further responses included “My husband and lads won’t have a bad word said about you because you support Everton.”

Back in May, Everton played their final game at Goodison Park against relegated Southampton. After an era lasting 133 years, fans bid farewell to the ‘Grand Old Lady’, with fans meeting the team bus for a final time and celebrations taking place inside the historic ground.

On the emotional day for Everton supporters, The TV personality appeared in good spirits as she said: “Hello, good morning and happy Friday.

“Today, I’m in Royal Blue and there is a very special reason for that because I’m a big Everton fan and on Sunday. it’s our last ever match at Goodison. So to celebrate, I wore blue and I brought in this.”

Amanda brought an Everton corner flag into the Heart studio, telling listeners that it came from a match she was at. She added “I literally ran across the pitch at Goodison and I stole the flag”, before telling security to turn a “blind eye”. The flag has been in her husband Chris Hughes’ office ever since.

In 2016, the mum-of-two became an honorary patron of Everton in the Community, the official charity of Everton Football Club. At the time the lifelong blue said: “I’m so proud to take on a role as patron for Everton in the Community which is such a special charity; changing and saving the lives of people all across Merseyside every day.

“It’s an incredible charity. Everton is my club and there’s an ‘Everton way’ and Everton in the Community embodies the values of Evertonians.”
