Inside Barbra Streisand’s reclusive life in Malibu after she’s slammed for ‘servants’ pic

Barbra Streisand might have been in the entertainment industry for more than six decades, but she now spends her days at her lavish Malibu estate, while her husband James Brolin is the one who prefers to keep busy.
The famous couple, who married in 1998, reside in a $16.5 million property in California, with Streisand, 83, preferring to stay out of the limelight these days.
The three-acre estate includes four houses, a koi pond, and a colorful flower garden. “Barbra’s world is her home,” a source claimed. “She’s got James, her dogs, her gardens. It’s paradise. She doesn’t need anything else.”
According to Rob Shuter’s Substack, another insider said, “She loves the simple pleasures now. She doesn’t care about movie premieres or award shows anymore. She’s done with the chaos of Hollywood. She’s earned her peace.”
RadarOnline reported a source as saying, “She’s given the world everything. Now she wants to live quietly, beautifully, and privately.”
And it seems her and Brolin being total opposites actually strengthens their marriage. Speaking to PEOPLE back in 2021, he revealed that whilst being stuck at home during the COVID pandemic, they had grown closer to one another.
“We, for a long time, were put out by COVID. And a lot of people, their marriages haven’t gone well during these 15 months,” he said. “We’ve literally fallen in love over this period of time, just being stuck together every day and making it work.”
Brolin, 85, is now starring in the Netflix series Ransom Canyon, while Streisand remains focused on her family.
Brolin has grown “more outgoing,” according to a source close to the couple.

“She needed total privacy when she was writing her book,” a source said, referring to Streisand’s nearly 1,000-page memoir, My Name Is Barbra, much of which she reportedly wrote in bed.
“But now that he’s got projects that are taking him away, she’s panicking. She insists she trusts him, but she’s notoriously wary about what happens when she’s not around.”
It comes after Streisand faced some backlash when she took to Instagram on November 29 and posted a Thanksgiving-themed pic showing her stepdaughter, Molly, smiling while children sat at a table in front of them.
“Me and my stepdaughter Molly on Thanksgiving, enjoying all the children drawing and trying to make little necklaces!” Streisand captioned the post.
Fans were quick to call out one detail in the background of the photo as at least four staffers could be seen working in the dining area.
“And lots of staff asking themselves why they aren’t home with their own families,” one user wrote.
Another added, “Hysterical! The traditional Thanksgiving, servants and all. You make Trump look good.”
“I wonder if the hired staff are wishing to be with their families,” a third wondered.
Another penned, “And the servants. Do you see them?”
It’s believed the photo was taken at Brolin and Streisand’s Malibu home.
