Toffoli Hosting Sharks Thanksgiving; Smith & Graf Excited For Turducken

Happy Thanksgiving! The San Jose Sharks will have a feast hosted by forward Tyler Toffoli.

Will Smith revealed to SHD that there will be multiple turkeys and a turduckin, all carved by Ryan Reaves. The Sharks forward also said that he is making banana bread with chocolate chips as his contribution to the feast.

“That’s what I’ve heard,” Collin Graf said about whether there will be a turduckin at the Toffolis. “I’ve never had one. I’ve only seen it on the football. That’s the only time I’ve ever seen it.

I don’t exactly know what it is. I mean, I know it’s turkey, duck, and chicken, but I’ll try it, hopefully it tastes good.”

Smith also said that there is a plan to be with Patrick Marleau and his family later on in the day.

Smith has lived with the Marleau family since entering the NHL last season.

The San Jose Sharks forward is just 20 years old, so not having Thanksgiving at home is something Smith is still getting used to. Smith says his family always has a 7-on-7 football game for Thanksgiving.

“My whole family’s playing a football game right now,” Smith said. “Like 20 of them are back home in a 7-on-7 football game. I’m missing out on that.”

Smith says he would be the quarterback in the yearly event.

For Graf, being away from his family for Thanksgiving has gotten easier. The San Jose Sharks winger says he was even in Ireland one year for Thanksgiving due to playing in a tournament.

“It’s different. You get older, it just changes, right?” Graf said. “You get a little older. I think it just makes those times with your family as a kid just more special.”

Graf said his family would often go to his grandmother’s house. The kids would eat downstairs and enjoy the annual Thanksgiving football games.

Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky says the coaches won’t attend the event at the Toffolis. He says he and his family are hosting the rest of the coaching staff over for a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
