Fulham defender, Calvin Bassey, has said he is happy that his international teammate, Victor Osimhen, did not complete a move to the English Premier League (EPL) last season, calling the striker “deadly.”

The Super Eagles’ central defender made this known recently during an interview with the media outlet, Stadium Astro.

Before settling for Turkish giants, Galatasaray, Osimhen was heavily linked with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal.

However, none of the speculated moves eventually materialised at the end of the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the failed move, Bassey expressed mixed feelings about the outcome of the transfer.

According to him, Osimhen operates at the same level as Manchester City goal machine, Erling Haaland, and is a very difficult striker to handle.

Bassey said, “He’s unbelievable. What he does for the country, what he’s done in the Champions League is amazing, a deadly striker.”

He added, “I was kind of happy and upset at the same time that he didn’t come to the Premier League. It would have been good for him, but I’m happy I don’t have to play against him.”

Bassey, however, confirmed that Osimhen was interested in moving to the Premier League.
