Spotify Wrapped 2025 is just days away. Now that Apple Music Replay, the alternative to Spotify Wrapped for Apple Music, is out, how long will Spotify users have to wait for their yearly music insights? Keep reading to see the likely release date based on previous years.
Spotify Wrapped offers a personalized recap of their year in listening with immersive features. In a 2024 press release, Spotify said that the feature gives fans “even more ways to indulge in what they love, from showing them how their taste in music evolved throughout the year to special messages from their favorite artists and podcasters.”
The interactive recap launched in 2015 with the introduction of Year in Music, which showed users a summary of their top artists and listening habits from the past year. The round-up was rebranded as “Spotify Wrapped” in 2016 and has since become a cultural phenomenon, growing more detailed and popular over the last decade.
Some previous features included in Spotify Wrapped are The Music Evolution and Playlist, Top Artist Reimagined and Music Video Playlist. In 2024, Spotify brought AI into the music experience with a personalized AI podcast, an AI DJ and an AI playlist.
Few details have been revealed about Spotify Wrapped 2025, including the release date and the new features that could be added. Instead, Spotify has encouraged users to keep what they love, and then they’ll be in touch “when it’s ready.”

Spotify has not announced a release date for Spotify Wrapped 2025, but in its latest update, the company said the recap is on its way “soon.” The annual year-end music typically drops either in late November or early December.
Over the past seven years, Spotify Wrapped has consistently arrived the week after Thanksgiving. Based on the release pattern of the last four years, a Wednesday launch on Dec. 3, 2025, is the most likely scenario.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2, Spotify teased that the feature is almost here and encouraged users to update their apps. “Are you #SpotifyWrapped ready? Make sure to update your app today. Wrapped is on the way soon!” the platform wrote on X alongside a checklist.
Here’s when the feature became available in previous years:
- 2024: Wednesday, December 4
- 2023: Wednesday, November 29
- 2022: Wednesday, November 30
- 2021: Wednesday, December 1
- 2020: Tuesday, December 1

All you need to access your 2025 Spotify Wrapped is a Spotify account and a few hours of listening, according to the streaming platform. Listeners should also make sure their Spotify iOS or Android app is up to date for the best experience.
There are multiple ways to update your app depending on your device and whether you prefer automatic updates or manual updates. For example, if you have an iPhone and want to switch to automatic updates, you should:
- Go to your device’s Settings
- Tap iTunes & App Store
- Switch App Updates on
To update manually:
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your Apple ID image at the top.
- Find Spotify, and tap UPDATE.
If Spotify isn’t listed, then your app is already on the latest version, according to Spotify’s support page. Android users should navigate to the Google Play Store, while desktop users will see a blue dot next to their profile picture at the top if an update is available.
How Long Does Spotify Wrapped 2025 Collect Listening Data?
Spotify has never confirmed the exact start and end dates for its listening data window for Spotify Wrapped. What we do know is that Spotify begins collecting data at the start of January and concludes sometime in November.
Molly Holder, the senior director of product for personalization at Spotify, confirmed this to Mashable during a Wrapped press presentation in December 2024.
“We start at the beginning of January with all of your listening that begins right then at the beginning of the year, and it goes all the way through collecting data up until a few weeks before we launch the Wrapped product,” she said.
Last year, Spotify clarified that data collection does not end on Oct. 31. “Spotify Wrapped doesn’t stop counting on October 31st,” the music streamer posted on X alongside a jack-o’-lantern graphic.
This means Spotify likely stops collecting data for its annual Wrapped in early to mid-November, so the music you listen to after Wrapped and before January 1 may not factor into your stats.
How Is Spotify Wrapped Different From Apple Music Replay?

Both Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music Replay are year-end listening recaps that showcases users’ top songs, artists, podcasts, genres and more. However, they differ in their appearance, special features and data collection methods.
Apple Music uses a year-long Replay system. Beginning around February, listeners can access weekly stats, and the platform continues collecting data through the end of the year before releasing Apple Music Replay. Spotify Wrapped’s data collection has been more secretive and likely pauses during a period from late November to early January.
Last year, Spotify Wrapped fully embraced AI, which drew criticism for its heavy reliance on artificial intelligence and the absence of several fan-favorite features, like top music genres and top albums.
In 2025, Apple Music introduced new sections such as “Discovery,” which highlights new artists users listened to; “Loyalty,” which spotlights artists they consistently returned to; and “Comebacks,” which shows artists who reappeared in users’ listening rotation, according to TechCrunch.
