NBA Announces Luka Dončić News As Lakers Star Continues to Dominate

The Los Angeles Lakers are getting exactly what they paid for with Luka Dončić. That’s why, almost a year later, fans still can’t believe they got their hands on him. The Slovenian star has played a significant role in Los Angeles’ dominance during the 2025-26 campaign.
Additionally, he has been the reason they have looked so strong despite LeBron James’ absence to start the season. So it makes sense for him to get the recognition he deserves.
The NBA Player Guessing Game allows you to guess the NBA player based on clues about their team, division, height, jersey number, points, and experience.
What Was Luka Dončić’s Latest Accomplishment With the Lakers?
The NBA Communications’ X account revealed that Dončić won the league’s Western Conference Player of the Week today. Not only that, but his ex-teammate Jalen Brunson also won it out East.
“Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Dončić and New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for Week 6 of the 2025-26 season (Nov. 24-30),” the league announced.

This marks the first time Dončić has won the award this season, and it’s the 15th time he has won it in his career. In case the Lakers didn’t know, they got a good one in him. However, this situation is sure to rub salt in the wound for the Dallas Mavericks’ fanbase.
Not only did Dončić, their former franchise player, win the award, but Brunson, also a Mavericks alum, won it in the Eastern Conference, making the organization look all the worse.
How Does This Reflect on the Mavericks’ Past Decisions?
It was already a bad enough look for Dallas to let Brunson go to the New York Knicks, given how much better he has looked since then. However, that decision only looks bad in hindsight, as no one knew Brunson was capable of what he’s been doing.
Trading Dončić looked historically bad from the minute it was announced. Everyone knew Los Angeles got away with highway robbery the moment it happened. Dončić winning Player of the Week is not surprising, given his exceptional talent, but this likely won’t even come close to the highest achievement he will earn as a member of the Lakers.
Today shows how colossal a blunder this was for the Mavericks, and how big a grand slam it was for Los Angeles to get their hands on one of the NBA’s best players for as little as they had to give up.
