Sky has announced the discontinuation of its interactive camera device, Sky Live, after just two years on the market. Launched in June 2023, Sky Live was marketed as a way to enhance the television viewing experience by enabling users to share their favorite shows with family and friends in innovative ways. However, the company revealed that Sky Live will cease operation on December 4, 2025.
In a recent post on the Sky Community platform, the broadcaster informed customers that notification of the service’s discontinuation began on November 4. The statement emphasized Sky’s commitment to innovation and the intent behind the creation of Sky Live. While the company acknowledged the ambition that guided the device’s development, it ultimately concluded that discontinuing Sky Live was necessary in order to reallocate resources towards projects that align more closely with customer needs.
Sky noted its focus on new advancements, including the next generation of Sky Glass TVs and enhanced broadband services, as areas that will receive greater investment moving forward. The company also mentioned the launch of Sky Protect, a home insurance product that has garnered positive review ratings.
Understanding the disappointment that some users may feel about the discontinuation, Sky has assured customers that they are entitled to a full refund for the Sky Live device. Customers will automatically receive their refunds through the direct debit linked to their Sky accounts. Those who paid for the device upfront can expect their money returned to the card used at the time of purchase. Sky anticipates that all refunds will be processed within three weeks from November 4.
