Sony to produce and publish Bad Robot Games’ first internally developed title

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a partnership with Bad Robot Games to support its first internally developed game.
The platform holder will produce and publish the studio’s upcoming four-player cooperative shooter directed by its chief creative officer (and Left 4 Dead creator) Mike Booth.
The unannounced title is currently in development for PlayStation 5 and PC, with more details to be shared at a later date.
Booth teased the project on Reddit back in September, which he described as being “built on the foundations of what made Left 4 Dead special.”
He continued: “If you enjoyed the teamwork, tension, and replayability of my past games, you’ll probably find this one interesting. It expands on the co-op formula in ways I’ve wanted to explore for a long time.”
Bad Robot Games CEO Anna Sweet said the studio hopes “to deliver a bold, innovative experience” with its new title.
“Partnering with Sony Interactive Entertainment allows us to bring our new IP to life, with an expansive vision for this new universe,” said Sweet.
“I could not be more excited that Mike Booth is at the creative helm, crafting a cooperative adventure that will lead to unforgettable moments with friends.”
SIE VP and head of 2P/3P content ventures & strategic initiatives Christian Svensson added: “We’re greatly impressed with the talent Bad Robot Games has assembled at their studio, and are thrilled to partner with them to help produce and publish their upcoming game.
“Their unique creative voice and passion for innovating across all forms of interactive entertainment perfectly aligns with SIE’s mission to craft experiences that resonate deeply with players. We can’t wait for gamers to step into the world they’ve been building.”
Bad Robot Games – a division of JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robot – launched in 2018.
