Aussies heading to the World Cup face tough security, raids

Washington | The Trump administration is investing billions in security measures to safeguard crowds and players at next year’s FIFA World Cup, while refusing to rule out immigration raids around stadiums that have made local Latino fans fearful of attending.

Andrew Giuliani, head of the White House’s World Cup task force and son of prominent Republican Rudy Giuliani, said he was most wary of vehicle ramming or drone attacks on crowds. He was also eager to avoid the chaos that engulfed a major international match in Miami last year when thousands of fans without tickets stormed the gates.
