Busboom Kelly leads confident Huskers into NCAA Tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Nebraska volleyball team is the #1 seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament with a 30-0 record. The Huskers cruised through the regular season and secured a Big Ten championship before the final week of competition. Nebraska’s dominance included a stretch of 48 consecutive sets won, which spanned fifteen consecutive sweeps.

Don’t expect first-year head coach Dani Busboom Kelly to change anything now.

“I don’t feel like they need to be pumped up,” Busboom Kelly said. “I think our messaging is going to be consistent to what its been the whole year.”

Busboom Kelly claimed the Big Ten’s Coach of the Year honor earlier this week, while six of her players earned All-Conference recognition. Bergen Reilly was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Setter of the Year.

“She’s coming in with these championship-or-bust expectations,” Reilly said. “She’s taken us to the place we need to be at so far. We’re not to the end goal yet, but she’s done a great job.”

Busboom Kelly guided Louisville to the 2024 NCAA Final and a runner-up finish. In fact, DBK has reached the national championship match twice over the last three years.

Nebraska plays its first round match on Friday at the Devaney Center. The Huskers host Long Island at 7:00 p.m. The match will be live streamed on ESPN Plus, which is a subscription-based service.
