UPDATE: Power restored to over 1,200 North Okanagan residents

UPDATE 12:15 p.m.:

Power is back on for all but a few customers in the Lumby and Cherryville areas.

UPDATE 11 a.m.:

Power should be back on by lunch time.

A BC Hydro crew is on site and the company expects to have power restored by 12 p.m. Thursday.

UPDATE 9:30 a.m.:

A wire down east of Trinity Valley Road appears to be the cause of a power outage impacting Lumby and Cherryville.

BC Hydro says a crew has been assigned to the outage which affects 1,237 customers.

Meanwhile a smaller second outage has been restored.

ORIGINAL 7:30 a.m.:

Two power outages has more than 1,300 North Okanagan residents in the dark on Thursday morning, Dec. 4.

According to BC Hydro, 1,237 customers ranging from Lumby to east of Cherryville have been without power since 7:16 a.m.

The reason for the outage is unknown at this time. A BC Hydro crew has been assigned to the scene.

Additionally, a small outage in Lumby is affecting 107 customers. The power has been off since 6:36 a.m.

Both outages are under investigation.
