Academy defender Marli Salmon played a full part in training with the Arsenal first-team squad today.
The highly-rated 16-year-old was called upon for the session amid doubts over William Saliba and the injury to Cristhian Mosquera.
It remains to be seen if Salmon will travel with the squad for the game at Villa Park but he is the academy defender who is closest to the senior squad at present.
Salmon impressed for Arsenal’s first-team in pre-season when he was just 15 and is a key player for the club at U21 and U19 levels, while he has also represented England U17s.
Max Dowman was also involved in training with the first-team squad as usual.
