World Cup 2026 host city guides: What to do, eat and see, from Atlanta to Vancouver – The Athletic

There has never been a World Cup like this before.

Next summer, fans from around the world will travel to North America for a tournament featuring 48 nations, split across three host countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico.

An expanded competition means more games and more venues, and in 2026, matches will take place in 16 cities. Eleven are in the U.S., three in Mexico and two in Canada.

For supporters, the choice of where to go and what to watch is vast. Ticket prices are high and there are issues to resolve over visas and travel. But for those planning to make the trip, there is so much to explore and get excited about, even before a ball is kicked.

To help you with World Cup planning, writers from across The Athletic have produced guides to each host city. These are written by people who live there or have an intimate knowledge of the cities. They include tips on where to eat, drink and stay, what to do and how to get around. And they also give a flavour of the type of cultural experience you can expect if you visit.

We hope you enjoy browsing these as much as we loved producing them.
