The heat is intensifying on Strictly Come Dancing as the surviving contestants battle to secure their place in the upcoming finale.

During last weekend’s BBC programme, audiences saw Alex Kingston’s departure from the competition following her dance-off against Balvinder Sopal, with the judges choosing to rescue the latter.

On Saturday evening, Alex positioned herself at the foot of the leaderboard with a combined score of 23. Nevertheless, her final tally for the evening reached 26 after securing an additional three points during the instant dance challenge.

For the first occasion in Strictly’s history, BBC viewers witnessed a fresh challenge emerge as each pairing selected a dance style randomly from their previous repertoire learnt throughout their journey on the programme.

After their dance was selected, they discovered the song they would perform to before receiving merely 10 seconds to determine their choreographic approach, reports Wales Online.
