An international footballer has been arrested in central London on suspicion of assault and affray.
The unnamed star was arrested after an incident in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Officers were called to the scene in the West End of the capital shortly before 1am.
Police received reports of an assault and the footballer was taken into custody shortly after officers arrived at the scene.
The 29-year-old cannot be named for legal reasons was arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray, reports The Sun.
According to the Met Police, the alleged victim was rushed to hospital and treated for their injuries.
It’s reported that they did not suffer life-changing or life-threatening injuries.
The footballer has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
And a police investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
