Ranveer’s Dhurandhar and Vicky’s Uri connected? Fan theory links Aditya Dhar films

Director Aditya Dhar made his debut in 2019 with the war action film Uri: The Surgical Strike, which starred Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam. He later announced his second directorial, the espionage-thriller Dhurandhar, with Ranveer Singh. Following the release of Dhurandhar this week, fans are now convinced they’ve discovered a direct connection—an “Easter egg”—between Dhar’s two action-packed films! (Be warned: Spoilers for Dhurandhar follow.)

Arjun Rampal, accidentally revealed Ranveer’s character’s name as Hamza at the film’s trailer launch. While those who watched Dhurandhar this weekend are aware of the alias, the movie ultimately reveals his true identity to be Jaskirat Singh Rangi. This real name has sparked fan theories because a scene from Uri: The Surgical Strike is now circulating online next to Ranveer’s introduction as Jaskirat. In that Uri scene, Kirti Kulhari, playing Flight Lieutenant Seerat Kaur of the Indian Air Force, tells Vicky Kaushal about her late husband. She states, “Husband the (He was my husband). Captain Jaskirat Singh Rangi. Naushera sector ke ambush mein shaheed hue the (He martyred during the ambush at Naushera sector).”

The video shared on Instagram was captioned, “DHURANDHAR URI: THE SURGICAL STRIKE (sic).” A fan commented, “Spy Universe in making (sic).” However, an Instagram user wrote, “There won’t be any connection because factually it doesn’t justify itself on the scale of timeline in both the movies. The dates are mismatched even if we try to justify the backstory somehow. This is just a name reference and nothing else. But you are still welcome to draw your own parallels (sic).” Another fan wrote, “Finally someone caught it (sic).”

India Today, in its review of Dhurandhar, wrote, “Dhurandhar is a sprawling, muscular, politically sharp thriller that bites off a lot, and thanks to Khanna’s explosive brilliance, chews most of it successfully.”

The film theatrically released on December 5, 2025.
