Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has poured cold water over links with Rangers by insisting he is very happy with the La Liga club.

Gers are continuing their search for a new transfer chief as well as a chief executive following chairman Andrew Cavenagh’s decision to sack Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart last month. Reports in Spain earlier this week claimed that the Ibrox giants had ‘made contact’ with Betis over Fajardo’s availability but the man in question has now came out to put those rumours to bed.

Speaking to Estadio Deportivo, he said: “I work with the same humility and the same commitment. Whether people talk about you, good or bad, it’s always positive. But I’m focused on my club.”

Meanwhile, out of favour Rangers midfielder Kieran Dowell is said to be a target for Hull City. The Englishman has only recently returned to first team training following a long spell out with injury and has not featured since the Premier Sports Cup last 16 win over Alloa in August.

English Championship side Hull will once again only be able to sign players on free transfers or loan deals next month because of a transfer ban imposed on them for failing to make loan payments.

But reports down south claim the Tigers are very keen on Dowell, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Dowell spent the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham City, scoring five times in 19 matches to help the Blues romp to the League One title.

He already has experience of playing in England’s second tier with Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Derby County, Wigan Athletic and Norwich City.

Rangers are expected to be busy in the upcoming window as Danny Rohl looks to stamp his authority on the squad. They have already been linked with Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

The 20-year-old was previously a target for Sheffield United and Sunderland and Tromso are said to be holding out for as much as £3.5million for his services.
