Toronto Maple Leafs forward Bobby McMann was ejected against the Tampa Bay Lightning after his teammate Dakota Mermis was taken out by a dirty hit.
The Toronto Maple Leafs defied the odds tonight and defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning by a score of 2-0 with Dennis Hildeby between the pipes.
It was a huge win for the Leafs, although the end of the game got out of hand very fast, and it’s all because of a dirty hit.
As you can see below, Gage Goncalves injured Dakota Mermis with a disgusting knee on knee hit that is going to get looked at by the NHL.
In fact, the player was assessed a game misconduct, and was forced to leave the game.
Meanwhile, Dakota Joshua got into a fight with a Lightning player as a means of retribution following the dirty play.
However, in a confusing moment, it was Bobby McMann who got ejected from the game, and no one in Toronto understood why this was the case.
Based on some new footage, it appears as though McMann actually slashed a Lightning player behind the scenes, and the ref made a decision.
The win is going to be a huge plus for the Leafs who are trying to get themselves to a playoff spot after spending weeks in the dumps.
In fact, the Leafs are just about one win away from getting back to the Top 3 in the Atlantic Division.
They have won four of their last five, and are on a five-game point streak. Needless to say, things are finally starting to look up for this team.
