When are Zooey Deschanel & Jonathan Scott getting married?
The couple’s wedding plans are more “exploratory” at this point, Deschanel told People. “We’re not in a rush because we’ve been together so long, so it’s not like we’re like, ‘We gotta get married.’ I’d rather find the right place, the right place and situation, so that it’s really special and fun,” the 45-year-old actress explained.
At the December 4 premiere of Merv, Deschanel provided more context as to why their wedding is taking “a long time” to plan: “The bar is high for throwing a party. So it has to be really good.”
Back in August, Scott also added that they’re focusing on spending time with their kids (Deschanel has two from a previous relationship), in addition to developing their new projects. “We’ve just been having so much fun traveling with the kids and filming this show and stuff,” Scott told People, adding that they hadn’t made any firm plans yet. The HGTV star is a stepdad to Deschanel’s two children from her from her previous marriage to Jacob Pechenik: Elsie, 10, and Charlie, 8.
One thing we do know is that the pair won’t have a televised ceremony — Scott said the latter was out of the question in an interview with Swooon in July.
Where is Zooey Deschanel and Jonathon Scott’s wedding?
Since there is no wedding set just yet, the location is unknown. However, Scott teased that it won’t be taking place somewhere cold.
“I think we want to have a warm wedding and haven’t figured out where that’s going to be yet,” he explained, per People. “We literally haven’t made any plans yet. We’re busy with all of the kids’ stuff, and so we’re really just chauffeurs to the kids’ social lives.”
All of that being said, the couple has floated a few wedding ideas since they got engaged. “Let me just say, there is an idea planned in our minds and you will be the first person [to know],” Scott said during theJuly 11 episode of Today With Jenna & Friends.
When did Zooey Deschanel & Jonathan Scott get engaged?
It’s been over two years since Scott proposed to his now-fiancée. He popped the question during an August 2023 trip to Scotland, in front of Edinburgh Castle. (Talk about setting the bar high for their actual ceremony!) He also enlisted Deschanel’s kids to help with the proposal. “Forever starts now!!! 🥰♾️🥰,” Zooey captioned an Instagram photo of the moment, showing off her ring.

The actress and the Property Brothers star met while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke. They were joined by their respective siblings, Drew Scott and Emily Deschanel, in the August 2019 episode. A month later Deschanel’ announced that she and her ex-husband planned to divorce, with a friend of the couple telling People that they’d separated several months earlier. Deschanel went Instagram official with her new love in October 2019.
