The body of a 24 year old man was discovered on a slip road after police were alerted to reports of a distressed man on a nearby M4 footbridge.
The motorway near Bridgend was shut down on Saturday, December 6 as emergency services rushed to the scene, but attempts to resuscitate the man proved unsuccessful.
South Wales Police received calls about a man in distress on the M4 footbridge near Junction 36 just before 9:30pm on Saturday. Upon their arrival, officers found the body of the 24 year old on a nearby slip road.
The South Wales Ambulance Service, along with police and CSI, attended the scene and attempted to resuscitate the man, but to no avail.
The deceased has been identified as a 24 year old man from Litchard, Bridgend, with his family confirming his identity. They are currently receiving support, reports Wales Online..
A spokesperson for South Wales Police stated: “Officers were called to the M4 footbridge near Junction 36 shortly before 9:30pm on Saturday December 6 following a report of a man in distress.
“The body of a man was located on the slip road nearby upon emergency services arrival. Ambulance unsuccessfully attempted resuscitation. The motorway was briefly closed in both directions to allow for police and CSI attendance.
“The man has been identified as a 24 year old man from Litchard, Bridgend. His family are aware and have confirmed ID, and are being supported.”.
