Man charged with attempted murder after 3 people attacked in St. John’s

A 32-year-old man is facing two counts of attempted murder after a string of attacks on Anspach Street in St. John’s on Monday evening.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary got reports of a man banging on doors and screaming after 6:30 p.m. On arrival, officers found two women with serious injuries.

Both were sent to hospital, where one is in critical condition.

While on the scene of the alleged crime, the RNC got another report of a man being assaulted on the street nearby.

“Police continued their investigation identifying the suspect and within short order located and arrested the 32-year-old man,” reads a section of the RNC’s overnight report detailing the incident.

The man is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of assault with a weapon, one count of uttering threats and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

He’s being held at the St. John’s city lockup and will appear before a judge on Tuesday.

The investigation is continuing.
