Hardik Pandya is on fire for India in the ongoing first T20I against South Africa. In the match taking place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Pandya needed just 25 balls to complete his half-century. He crossed the 50-run mark by hitting Anrich Nortje for a six on the second ball of the 20th over of India’s innings. The six by Hardik off Nortje’s bowling also helped him complete 100 sixes in T20Is. The 32-year-old cricketer from Baroda is the fourth Indian after Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav to hit 100 sixes in T20Is.
Rohit holds the record of hitting most sixes in T20Is. The former India skipper played 159 matches from 2007 to 2024 and hammered 205 maximums. Suryakumar has slammed 155 sixes in 96 T20Is played so far and Kohli finished his T20I career with 124 sixes in 125 matches.
The ongoing India-South Africa T20I in Cuttack is Pandya’s 121st T20I match for the Men in Blue.

Pandya’s super show with the bat in his first T20I match since getting injured on September 26, 2025, helped India post a total of 175/6 in 20 overs. Apart from hitting four sixes for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side on Tuesday, Pandya also slammed six fours. He remained unbeaten on 59 runs from 28 balls.
Hardik, who will also bowl for India in the second half of the match, will have a chance to complete 100 wickets in T20Is. As of now he has 98 wickets to his credit. If Pandya takes at least two wickets in the ongoing match, then he will not only become the second Indian after Arshdeep Singh to take 100 wickets in T20Is but will also become the first Indian to complete the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets in T20Is. So far only three players – Mohammad Nabi, Shakib Al Hasan and Sikandar Raza – have scored 1000 runs and also dismissed 100 batters in T20Is.
As of now, Nabi and Raza are the only two players who have scored 1000 runs, dismissed 100 batters and smacked 100 sixes in T20Is. A couple of wickets on Tuesday will help Pandya join that elite list.
