Kentucky Lantern sues University of Kentucky, appealing attorney general’s decision

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The Kentucky Lantern is suing the University of Kentucky over the Open Records Act. The Lantern is seeking emails between the university and a tenured professor, DeShana Collett.
According to the Lantern, UK refused to release records of emails regarding a $375,000 settlement with Collett. Collett had challenged UK’s decision to disband the University Senate.

Collett had previously requested records of emails among UK administrators regarding her, but part of her agreement with UK was that she withdraw her request, the Lantern reported.
Attorney General Russell Coleman rejected the Lantern’s appeal against UK’s decision.
The case will be heard in Fayette County Circuit Court.
