TV SHOWS TO WATCH IF YOU LIKE ‘RIPPLE’

It may have had a long standing “in limbo” kind of status and arrived quietly to streaming, but early days has Ripple as being a recent user favorite. It has a near 80 percent average rating and is an intriguing story following multiple, seeming unconnected stories. Given the fame, quite though it is, this drama has found, we are going to look at some TV shows like Ripple, or at least I hope we can! Given that this show is, from my experience, a bit more unique, finding titles may be difficult, but let’s see what we find.

TV SHOWS TO WATCH IF YOU LIKE ‘RIPPLE.’ Looking at a few of the things to watch if you like the drama #Ripple! #TVShows #IanHarding #GoodTV Share on X

A show originally, at least in part, developed by Hallmark, and set for their streamer Hallmark+, no news followed after the announcement. Given Hallmark+ is no longer (at this point) dropping originals (their debuts are still on Hallmark Channel), the show just this week was announced to be going to Netflix instead, and all eight of its episodes are there in a binge drop. The show primarily follows four characters who share nothing in common, but what none of them realize is perhaps there are ripple effects that do connect them all. Death and illness, dreams and hopes, romance and divorce, all of these issues are tackled as the drama sets up its stories.

This is a drama that is quite bittersweet, but it is interesting and has characters that I did, based on the few episodes I’ve seen, like and want to be in a happier place by series end. All this to say, let’s see what other TV shows like Ripple (or kind of like it!) there are.

7 SHOWS LIKE ‘RIPPLE’ but probably not really

CRANFORD

Is this an odd show to add? Perhaps, but it is about the lives of various characters in the 1800s and it is equal parts heartwarming and sad, just like Ripple. Does it share other commonalities? Perhaps not, but I’m making it work. I think, at least based on more recent TV shows, this one is more unique so it’s a challenge to find things you may also like.

Synopsis: Dame Judi Dench leads an all-star cast in this witty story about the small absurdities and major tragedies in the lives of the people of Cranford. A place governed by etiquette, custom and above all, ladies, Cranford in the 1840s is a small English town on the cusp of change. – Prime Video

EARLY EDITION

This show, which had four seasons I believe, is from the 90s and features a pre Friday Night Lights Kyle Chandler in the role of good guy. It also has a futuristic twist given its newspaper hero gets news about the future. I cannot remember specifics, but I think this one has a theme of connections and what those mean even with the futuristic concept.

Synopsis: This is an hour-long drama about Chicago native Gary Hobson who becomes a reluctant hero when his morning newspaper reports tomorrow’s headlines. – Amazon

LARK RISE to CANDLEFORD

This one admittedly doesn’t share commonalities with Ripple, but it is about multiple characters and the ups, downs, triumphs, joys and losses of their respective lives. It also has a kind of fun thread that is a competitive spirit between the two titular neighboring villages. The series is set in the 1800s and follows a young girl whose parents send her to the neighboring village in the hopes the larger place will offer her more education and help her grow into a young lady with better options.

Synopsis: Flora Thompson’s charming love letter to a vanished corner of rural England follows the relationship of two contrasting communities: Lark Rise, the small hamlet gently holding on to the past, and Candleford, the small market town bustling into the future. Seen through the eyes of young Laura, their inhabitants endure many upheavals as inevitably change comes. – Prime Video

LOVE LIFE

I never saw this, but my impression of it is that it’s an adult story following people seeking connections and yes, romance, too. Anna Kendrick headlined season one and appeared in a handful of second season episodes that followed (from my understanding) new characters in this anthology show that only had two seasons.

Synopsis: Anna Kendrick stars in this anthology romantic comedy series that follows a millennial New Yorker’s quest to find her “person,” with each episode telling the winding, relatable story of one that got away. – Prime Video

Stream, at publication, with Netflix; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video

TOUCH

This one has magical realism and only had two seasons. It’s also the vehicle that returned Keifer Sutherland to lead TV drama role after his long running role as Jack Baur in 24. I watched this one but I don’t remember everything, only that it is about connections and connecting. It follows Sutherland’s character, a father who is raising a son with emotional challenges, but an extraordinary ability to know that something is about to happen before it does.

Synopsis: Kiefer Sutherland (24) makes a triumphant return to TV in this smart and hopeful drama about the ties that bind all of us together.  – Amazon

THIS is US

The pilot was all I ever saw of this, but I know people loved this drama; all I remember is it does (in the pilot) do the whole mystery of how-do-these-stories-all-connect. The show was highly acclaimed and had Mandy Moore with Milo Ventimiglia (post Gilmore Girls fame) and Justin Hartley (pre Tracker fame) co-starring. The plot revolves around connected characters and through the seasons peels away how their lives and stories connect.

Synopsis: From the writer and directors of Crazy, Stupid, Love comes a smart, modern dramedy that will challenge your everyday presumptions about the people you think you know. – Prime Video

THE WAY HOME

A time travel drama that chronicles the lives of three generations of women who are able to time travel through a pond on their family farm. The show is a fan favorite of many and has high user rating heading into its final 2026 season. Though different, the feeling is similar to our subject and therefore this one fits the TV shows like Ripple framework.

BONUS! THE SECRET: DARE to DREAM, film

Based on a non-fiction novel, Katie Holmes headlined this drama which I think is actually pretty good. In it, she plays a mother struggling to keep her family afloat. Then a stranger arrives with a possible solution to all of her challenges.

Synopsis: Based on Rhonda Byrne’s best-seller, this uplifting story follows a young widow (Katie Holmes) and a mysterious man (Josh Lucas) who helps her and her family transform their lives. – Prime Video

Stream, at publication, with Netflix; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video
