Amanda Holden is celebrating her 17th wedding anniversary with husband Chris Hughes today – and it’s far from romantic. Returning to the airwaves on Wednesday, the Heart Radio host revealed how an amusing blunder ruined what is supposed to be a day filled with love and appreciation.
Opening the show, alongside co-presenter Jamie Theakston, she enthused: “It’s my wedding anniversary today, 17 years ago we got married today at four o’clock.
“And I really wanted it to snow so I had a snow effects company who came to make it snow.
“And Father Christmas popped in with some reindeers because Lexi [their eldest daughter] was nearly three, and oh my gosh it feels like yesterday.”
When Jamie asked if they celebrate their anniversary, Amanda said the couple typically don’t make a fuss.

“We’re a bit rubbish at it, no, we sort of go, ‘Happy anniversary darling’ and I mean, I woke up this morning to one of the dogs having a poo,” she went on to say.
Jamie quipped in response: “Oh that’s nice, is that what it is for 17 years?”
“It’s actually furniture,” Amanda clarified, having already looked into the traditional anniversary gift guide.
She added: “I can’t see what else to get Chris, but what I was going to say was, I cleaned everything and bleached everything, but I left the dog poo wrapped up in kitchen roll on the side!
“I was meant to put it in a bin bag and then put it in the bin before I go into the car.
“So I’ve had to text Chris, ‘Happy anniversary, I’ve accidentally left dog poo on the side for you’. Oh my God, poor Chris,” she said.
Later in the programme, the Britain’s Got Talent panellist shared her husband’s reply.

“He said, ‘I love you too’, he sent me a picture [of it] this morning,” she revealed.
Amanda and Chris have been together for more than two decades and are parents to two daughters; Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13.
The couple first crossed paths in Los Angeles back in 2003, before exchanging vows five years later at St Margaret’s Church in Somerset.
Chris is Amanda’s second spouse, following her previous eight-year marriage to television presenter Les Dennis.
In a previous interview with HELLO! Magazine, Amanda said of her husband: “Chris is very funny and errs on the side of lightness. We can make jokes out of any situation throughout the best and darkest times of our lives.
“He’s rubbish at romance, but he’s there for the solid things – such as keeping my car clean and making sure I relax.”
