Hugh Jackman has fun with Charlie Berens at Kegel’s Inn in West Allis

Wisconsin comedian Charlie Berens behind the bar and actor Hugh Jackman bellied, err abs-ed, up to it.
Kegel’s Inn in West Allis shared a video clip on Instagram of the two stars shooting the breeze about … Australia’s Warriewood Blowhole. That is, after they had a little NSFW fun with the word “blowhole.” You know, just classic bar chatter.
Jackman, who’s from the land down under, informed Berens that the Warriewood Blowhole is a “natural phenomenon” that’s like a cave.
“You have the ocean that’s coming up and the erosion goes in and so it forms a cave,” Jackman explained in the video. “It’ll shoot up and it’ll be like a geyser, just with like spraying water.”
All the while, Berens was concocting a drink. Jackman had two in front of him already: A stein, and what we’re guessing to be an old fashioned made with Berens Old Fashioned Brandy? A bottle of that can be seen in the background and Kegel’s posted on Facebook that it was “an Old Fashioned kinda night.”
Jackman came to town for the Milwaukee premiere of “Song Sung Blue,” which he stars in. He portrays Milwaukee’s own Mike Sardina, who performed in the Neil Diamond and Patsy Cline tribute act Lightning & Thunder with his wife, Claire, who’s played by Kate Hudson.
The restaurant also shared photos on Facebook of Jackman and Berens with the Kegel’s crew.
“So THAT happened! We’re still buzzing over here after hosting the incredible Charlie Berens and the one-and-only Hugh Jackman!” the post said, adding that it was the “perfect kick-off” to Kegel’s 101st birthday week.
It’s been quite the week for Berens, too, with his sophomore comedy special, “Neighborly” — which was filmed at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton — having hit YouTube Dec. 1.
