‘Intoxicated and acted inappropriately’: Pies staffer stood down after camp ‘incident’

Collingwood has confirmed the resignation of a staff member following an incident that occurred during a recent club community camp in the Northern Territory.
Senior footy journalist Tom Morris reported on X on Thursday morning that a Magpies football department employee was “intoxicated and acted inappropriately” on the final night camp, which was attended by group of Collingwood athletes, staff and board members.
The employee’s behaviour prompted an internal investigation by the Magpies, with the club confirming the staffer had handed in his resignation.

“Collingwood can confirm that an incident occurred during recent interstate travel that required investigation by the club,” a Magpies statement read.
“As soon as the club became aware of the incident, it moved quickly to address the matter and during this process, the employee involved tendered their resignation, which the club accepted.
“Our focus remains on supporting all team members and ensuring our environments remain professional and consistent with the values we stand for.”
The club on social media shared several pictures of the trip, which saw several first-year male and female players attend.
“Part of our annual induction for new players, the cultural immersion program focuses on fostering meaningful connection, deepening understanding and working Side by Side with the local community,” the club wrote on Instagram.
