Marvel, Lucasfilm Blockbusters Back to Theaters; ‘Stranger Things 5’ Breaks Record; Scar-Jo Circles ‘The Batman Part II’; ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoff Trailer; ‘Helldivers’ Movie

Tons of Hollywood news hit the wire this week, here’s the round-up!
Two Disney-owned blockbusters are returning to theaters. According to Deadline, Avengers: Endgame will head back to theaters on September 25, 2026, just ahead of the Avengers: Doomsday release on December 16, 2026 (see “‘Avengers: Doomsday’“). Also, Lucasfilm will re-release the original and newly restored version of Star Wars (1977) on February 19, 2027 for its 50th anniversary.
Stranger Things Season 5 Vol. 1 has broken a Netflix record for number of premiere week views on the platform, according to Deadline. The previous premiere-week record was held by Wednesday Season 1 (see “‘Wednesday’“). Stranger Things Season 5 will be released in three parts, and the series finale will get a theatrical release on December 31, 2025 (see “‘Stranger Things’ S5“).
Scarlett Johansson is in talks to join the cast of The Batman Part II, according to Variety, starring opposite Robert Pattinson (see “New Movies and TV Series“), but her potential role in the film has not been revealed.
HBO Max released a final trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (see below). This series will premiere on January 18, 2026 (see “‘Game of Thrones’ Series News“).
Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions will adapt the Helldivers video game into a feature length film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This new movie will be directed by Fast and Furious’ Justin Lin. Recently, Steamforged Games announced a Helldivers 2 board game (see “‘Helldivers 2 Board Game’“).
