Palm Royale season 2 episode 5 recap: Will Maxine rescue Douglas and fund Linda’s mission? Check out the full story

Palm Royale season 2, episode 5 starts with Mary receiving a package she believes will connect her to the spirit world. Instead, it’s just a ham radio, and through it, she picks up a message from Linda. Since being dropped off in Cuba by Douglas, Linda has been on a whirlwind adventure. Alongside her new companion and lover, Choi Guevara, Che Guevara’s half-brother, she has been working on humanitarian projects around the world.

Linda needs Maxine to send $100,000

For her latest mission, teaching children in the Sierra Madre to read, Linda needs Maxine to send $100,000. Despite Mary’s disappointment at not actually speaking with spirits, she relays the message to Maxine, who faces the challenge of funding the programme while dealing with frozen Rollins estate assets.

Maxine’s financial struggles

At the same time, Maxine is out on a date with Dr Dusty Magic, a gynaecologist-lawyer, but she keeps her distance, explaining, “I can’t kiss you before the third date at least.” Her romantic moment is interrupted when Mary delivers Linda’s message. Maxine quickly realises that neither she nor Evelyn can access estate funds to help Linda or sell the Palm Royale, which requires $3 million. She asks Robert for help, but he directs her to Douglas, who is missing.

Eventually, Maxine and Evelyn secure $6 million in gold reserves, only to discover that legal complications prevent them from using it. Attempting to sell items secretly, they are shocked to find the estate raided by the FBI, with their treasures valued at a mere $5,000.

Douglas’ kidnapping mystery

Meanwhile, Mitzi struggles with Douglas’ disappearance. She enlists Dinah and Perry to investigate Pinky and Raquel’s estate. Dinah discovers Doug tied up and gagged, with Raquel planning to kill the pig Doug is chained near.

The trio devises a plan to distract the kidnappers at Madge Post’s square dance while rescuing Doug. This plan intersects with Dusty taking Maxine on a second date to the same event, tying personal and rescue missions together.

The Madge Post’s vault revelation

The square dance reveals an astounding collection in Madge Post’s vault, including 11 of the 12 surviving Romanov Faberge eggs. Evelyn is stunned to find her possessions among them, sold through an arrangement with the FBI. Though desperate, Maxine and Evelyn are offered only 50 cents on the dollar for their gold, receiving $3.4 million, enough to fund Linda’s literacy programme. Meanwhile, Perry sneaks away to rescue Doug, while Mitzi contacts the FBI.

As the night unfolds, Maxine learns that Pinky and Raquel never kidnapped Douglas; he was held by the FBI as part of a larger investigation. With the ordeal over, Maxine discovers that Dusty was Linda’s secret courier, giving her the code word “banana slug” before a respectful kiss on the neck.

Returning home, Maxine is surprised to find Douglas waiting for her, released by the authorities. The night ends with Maxine preparing for Dusty, only to find herself atop Douglas accidentally, leaving Dusty heartbroken.
