The Detroit Red Wings rookie trio made franchise history on Saturday’s 4-3 win over the Seattle Kraken.

You wake up on Wednesday morning to find your Detroit Red Wings are 1st in the Atlantic Division.

The thrilling news is that they’re not done exciting you yet, as the Red Wings rookies performed an astonishing feat against the lowly Seattle Kraken recently.

Nate Danielson, Axel-Sandin Pellikka, and Emmitt Finnie combined for a power-play goal.

While it might seem pretty normal for all three to do so, and it should, the interesting part of it all is that all three players were selected in the same draft.

This is the first time in franchise history that a trio of rookies has accomplished this, on Saturday’s win against the Kraken.

Three Detroit Red Wings rookies exceed expectations against the Vancouver Canucks

Emmitt Finnie scored the power-play goal and the 1st goal of the night against the Kraken 7:06 minutes into the match.

This is great news for a team that had been lacking reliable depth scoring as of late, and the rookies, while not immune to slumps, have to continue to prove their mettle on a nightly basis.

They did that on Saturday.

While this may not seem like much, it was the first step in a 60-minute slog against a Seattle Kraken team that wasn’t going to be pushed out of the game, as Brandon Montour would score later, assisted by Matty Beniers (former Michigan Wolverine) and Captain Jordan Eberle.

The keyword for the Red Wings is resilience and reliability; they need them from all of their players, but the rookies need to find a leader and learn from his examples, and that should be Dylan Larkin every night.
