What to know before SpaceX rocket launch in Florida Thursday

This story has been updated to reflect a change in the launch time.

Did you miss the launch Tuesday? If so, the wait will not be long. SpaceX plans to launch another Falcon 9 rocket Thursday, Dec. 11.

The Dec. 11 liftoff is planned for no earlier than 3:26 p.m. from Launch Complex 40 in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The rocket will be carrying another batch of 29 Starlink internet satellites to orbit, heading on a southeast trajectory after leaving the Cape.

If technical or weather issues cause a delay, SpaceX has until 5:59 p.m. to make the liftoff. However, as of Dec. 10 the Space Force 45th Weather Squadron has predicted a greater than 95% chance of favorable conditions.

This liftoff comes just days after SpaceX delivered the NROL-77 mission, a classified national security payload, from the same launch pad. Unlike that liftoff, which saw a sonic boom-inducing booster return. the Dec. 11 Starlink mission will target a booster landing on a SpaceX drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean. No Space Coast sonic booms will be heard.

The FLORIDA TODAY Space Team will provide live updates beginning 90 minutes prior to liftoff at FloridaToday.com/Space.
