Taylor Swift seems to have been playing around with some of the lyrics on her Reputation album, making sweary changes to two songs.
Fans have spotted that on Apple Music, the ‘surround sound’ Dolby Atmos version of two songs from the singer’s sixth album has slightly different lyrics.
On I Did Something Bad, Taylor usually sings: “But if he drops my name, then I owe him nothin’. And if he spends my change, then he had it comin’.”
However, on the new Apple Music version, she swaps it for: “If a man talks ****, then I owe him nothin’. And if he calls me a *****, then he had it coming.”
Similarly, on fellow album track Delicate she trades the usual words “Oh, ****, never seen that colour blue,” for, “*******, never seen that color blue.”
Swifties have naturally jumped on the subtle changes, speculating about what it could signal, with some suggesting it could be a tease for a ‘Taylor’s version’ of Reputation.
The singer started re-recording her first six albums after music manager Scooter Braun purchased her old record label, Big Machine, and became the owner of her masters.
Four of these re-recordings were released as ‘Taylor’s version’ with the star sometimes choosing to use the opportunity to tweak lyrics, however, earlier this year she bought back the rights to the six albums in question.
Writing to fans at the time, Taylor said that her self-titled debut album had been re-recorded and would be released “when the time is right” but admitted she hasn’t “even re-recorded a quarter” of Reputation.
“The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it,” she said in May, but assured Swifties that she would still release the album’s unreleased “vault” tracks in the future.
