Report: Mets signing Polanco to 2-year, $40M deal

The New York Mets reached an agreement with infielder Jorge Polanco on a two-year contract worth $40 million, sources told ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Polanco is reportedly expected to primarily play first base and DH for the Mets in an effort to help fill the void left by Pete Alonso, who recently signed with the Baltimore Orioles.
The 32-year-old Polanco slashed .265/.326/.495 with 26 home runs and 78 RBIs for the Seattle Mariners in 2025. His .821 OPS was the highest he’s posted in a season since 2021, and the third-highest of his career.
Polanco primarily played DH and second base in 2025. He’s played one game at first base in his 12-year MLB career.
