Gracia: ‘I like that we are disappointed with results – it shows we want more’

Javi Gracia is pleased his players are disappointed that they are not doing better in the Championship, hoping the feeling fosters a winning attitude at the club.

The Hornets head to Wrexham this afternoon after just one defeat in eight matches, taking 13 points, but having drawn three of their last four home games 1-1.

The players knew Tuesday’s draw with Sheffield Wednesday was a big missed opportunity, Gracia stated, and are fighting to improve.

He said: “I like to feel that we are really disappointed, it means that the teams always wants more.

“They realised that the last game we needed to win and we missed a great chance to get more points.

“When it happened we started to prepare the next game with the same mentality.

“We always believe we can win the next game and we have to fight with that mentality. The atmosphere is good, the relationship is good, all of the players are creating a real team.

“Day by day we need to keep that if we want to be in the best place to compete with the best teams.”

Gracia is expecting a tough test from Wrexham, who he remembers for when a former player of his signed for the club.

He said: “I remember when Ben Foster was there, it was the moment I knew about Wrexham.

“They have done very well in the last few seasons and they deserve to be where they are in this moment. They compete very well.”
