Strictly’s George Clarke speaks out as he lands new role after major show change

The YouTuber and TikTok star landed a major new role away from the BBC One dance contest

George Clarke has shared a message as it was revealed that he’s landed a major new role away from Strictly Come Dancing, which comes as his position in the competition also faced a big change.
The YouTuber and TikTok star and his professional dance partner, Alexis Warr, secured their place in the semi-final after they were seen competing in the quarter-final stage of BBC dance contest, which also happened to be the show’s annual Musicals Week special, last Saturday night (December 6).
George, who admitted to not being a fan of musicals, was seen performing an Argentine tango to The Point Of No Return from The Phantom Of The Opera with Alexis, for which the the judges scored them 35 out of a possible 40.
It was then during Sunday’s (December 7) results show that George and Alexis were revealed to be safely through to week 12 of the competition, which will see the final four couples compete for a place in the show’s final, which will take place on December 20.
But ahead of his next performance, George has revealed that he’s landed a huge new BBC hosting gig. He confirmed to be hosting a show on Radio 1 on Christmas Day. The pre-recorded episode will broadcast between 3pm and 4pm, with other presenters on the day including JADE, GK Barry and Ella Rutherford, Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo, and Munya Chawawa.

Reacting to the announcement of his new gig on his Instagram Story, George shared the Radio 1 Christmas Day schedule and wrote to his followers: “Listen to me waffle utter nonsense between songs at Christmas if you fancy.”
Meanwhile, it’s now been revealed that George’s latest performances has changed who viewers are backing to win Strictly this year. He had been favourite for weeks to life the Glitterball trophy, but former Lioness Karen Carney came out fighting and switched up the market in recent weeks.
However, George is now the 10-11 favourite with bookmaker Coral to win Strictly 2025 ahead of the semi-final of the show. Karen is just behind at 11-10, while Amber Davies and Balvinder Sopal are 33-1 and 40-1 outsiders, respectively.
