Alexis Warr has joked that George Clarke has bene ‘changed’ by his Strictly Come Dancing experience as he admitted that he thought he’d be ‘angry’ over major change to semi-final.

The pair have this week been preparing for the penultimate week of the BBC One dance contest, which takes place live this Saturday night (December 13), with the four remaining couples hoping to secure a place in the 2025 series final.

George and Alexis secured their place in the semi-final after they were seen competing in the quarter-final stage of Strictly’s 23rd series, which also happened to be the show’s annual Musicals Week special, last Saturday night (December 6).

George, who admitted to not being a fan of musicals, was seen performing an Argentine tango to The Point Of No Return from The Phantom Of The Opera with Alexis.

George, 26, who wore a half mask and puffy shirt, was told his dance was “sensational” by judge Motis Mabuse, who also said the performance “set the tone” for the night, while Shirley Ballas said she loved “the whole ambience of it”, before the judges scored them 35 out of a possible 40.

It was then during Sunday’s (December 7) results show that George and Alexis were revealed to be safely through to week 12 of the competition, which will see the final four couples compete for a place in the show’s final, which will take place on December 20.

Speaking about what’s ahead during an appearance on Strictly’s companion show It Takes Two on Thursday (December 11), host Janette Manrara revealed that George and Alexis will be performing a Charleston to ‘We Speak No Americano’ by Yolanda Be Cool and a Samba to ‘Volare’ by Gipsy Kings

“Two dances this week, and two pretty full on dances, they’re not going easy on you?” Janette said to George who admitted: “I thought I would grabbing a producer by the lapels and being unbelievable angry. I’m really enjoying it actually, I don’t know what’s happened.”

Alexis joked: “This show has changed him!” before George continued “The Charleston, I thought I would really enjoy but I’ve heard so many bad words spoken about the samba. But we’ve gotten to know each other and he’s a great guy!”

It comes as George has seen his odds shortened (5/6) and now overtakes Lioness Karen Carney (11/10) as the new favourite to win the series, following a string of high-scoring routines and growing public support.

A Betway spokesperson said: “With Strictly’s endless twists this year, fans have been on an emotional rollercoaster without brakes. We’ve seen tears, shocks, and of course the sudden departure of fan favourite Lewis Cope last weekend.

“George and Karen are virtually neck and neck at the top in the race to lift the glitterball, but Amber [Davies] – who impressed with her musical-theatre-inspired routine last week – will need a huge weekend as she takes on her Couple’s Choice and the Tango. She’s spoken about how lucky she feels to be in the semi-finals, but with this year’s controversies around eliminations, anything could happen in the ballroom.”
