Michelle Rowland to repay portion of family’s WA trip charged to taxpayers

Attorney-General Michelle Rowland will repay a portion of a trip she and her family took to Western Australia after the Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority (IPEA) found part of the journey fell outside the guidelines governing parliamentary expenses.

Rowland, who was communications minister during the previous parliament, flew three family members from Sydney to Perth during the July 2023 NSW school holidays at a cost of $16,050 to taxpayers. She spent $4242 on her own flights and claimed $1392 in travel allowance for the first three days of the week-long family trip, according to IPEA filings.
