Congo Falls brings world’s largest gorilla exhibit to the San Antonio Zoo!

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Zoo unveiled its groundbreaking new gorilla habitat, Congo Falls, this Saturday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m.
The highly anticipated grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the zoo, located at 3903 N. St. Mary’s St. in San Antonio, Texas.
Congo Falls is poised to redefine habitat design with its innovative approach to wildlife conservation, education, and animal care.
Spanning two acres, Congo Falls is one of the most expansive and immersive gorilla environments ever created. It boasts three distinct habitats, lush landscaping, dynamic water features, and enrichment zones.
A standout feature is The Mays Family Silverback Peak, the tallest gorilla tower in the world, rising over 70 feet and offering gorillas panoramic views of the city skyline.
The celebration will extend into the evening with a spectacular 15-minute drone show at 8 p.m., where hundreds of drones will illuminate the sky in a tribute to gorillas, conservation, and adventure.
This unique event is free for zoo members and open to all guests.
During the construction of Congo Falls, workers made an unexpected historical discovery: limestone from the quarry that supplied stone for The Alamo over 300 years ago.
This find enriches the connection between the zoo and San Antonio’s heritage, merging the past with a forward-looking vision for conservation.
