Traffic disruptions expected as demolition work in downtown Tilbury continues
Tilbury residents are being asked to be cautious on Queen Street North for the next few weeks, as demolition work on three dilapidated buildings continues.
As of Monday, the Municipality of Chatham-Kent will have demolition crews working on 45, 47, and 49 Queen St. N. At that time, demolition at 47 and 49 will resume, while demolition of 45 will begin.
The road will remain open while work is being done, but it is expected that there will be traffic delays.
“We ask that residents use caution when in the area and keep clear of the demolition site,” a release from the municipality said.
The work is expected to take two weeks. After that, fencing and traffic barriers in the area will come down and the sidewalk will be re-opened.

Demolition on the first two buildings began in September.
The three buildings began to collapse in 2022, but work to remove them has been slow as there has been structural issues with previously attached neighbouring buildings.
