Mahomes suffered a brutal knee injury in the final minutes of this must-win game. Mahomes’ knee bent awkwardly, and he was seen on the ground in considerable pain. He had to be assisted off the field following the hit.

Mahomes has been dealing with a knee injury in recent weeks, and he took a major hit on that same knee from the Chargers’ defenders. Following his being twisted up, he fell to the turf in considerable pain.

Mahomes went into the blue medical tent, and moments later, he reemerged with the training staff still helping him. Being helped off the field and into the locker room is clearly not a good sight.

Gardner Minshew entered the game for the Cheifs. After moving the ball downfield, he threw a pass that was intercepted, leading to a loss.

The Chiefs have not looked like their normal selves in 2025. A ton of struggles have been evident since the start of the season. With the loss, Kansas City is now out of playoff contention.

To make matters far worse, the Chiefs will now be dealing with a potentially major injury to his knee. The team will offer updates when they come, but the scene was not good.

The hope for the Chiefs is that Mahomes did not suffer anything major that will keep him out for longer than potentially being on IR. The way he was being helped off the field certainly points to a major injury.
