USC Hit With Bad News Before Alamo Bowl Matchup vs TCU

The USC Trojans closed out the college football regular season winning four of their last five games to earn a spot against TCU in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 30.
It marked head coach Lincoln Riley’s best season in Southern California since his first year when he led the Trojans to an 11-3 mark with Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Willims playing quarterback.
And while Riley’s name was linked to several high-profile head-coach openings across the country, it appears 42-year-old isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Keeping Riley in the fold is a big win for USC, which has dealt with a lot of coaching instability since Pete Carroll left for the NFL back in 2010 (the school has endured up-and-down seasons with Lane Kiffin, Ed Orgeron, Clay Helton, Steve Sarkisian, and Donte Williams all coaching for various amounts of time).
However, USC won’t be making it to its bowl game completely unscathed from any bad news as it was revealed on Thursday that the team will be kicked out of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the 2028 season due to the 2028 Olympic Games in L.A.

The Coliseum previously hosted the 1932 Olympics and the 1984 Olympics, meaning when the 2028 Games arrive, the historic stadium will be the first ever to host three Olympic Games.
USC will play its 2028 home football games at neighboring SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers.
Though SoFi is less than eight miles away from the Coliseum, the change will be a big adjustment for the players and their fans given they’ve played their home games in the legendary venue since 1923.
It also makes things a bit more hectic for the stadium schedulers as in addition to the Rams and Chargers, the UCLA Bruins will begin playing their home games at the venue starting in 2026 after signing a contract to move from the Rose Bowl to SoFi.
