Nigeria’s base was officially activated on Sunday, December 14, at the Renaissance Hotels in Cairo. Members of the technical team and support staff had already settled in, with goalkeeper Francis Uzoho becoming the first player to arrive after checking in shortly after 2:00am local time.
Nwabali’s arrival signals steady progress in the buildup to the continental showpiece, with several more players expected to join the camp over the next few days. The Super Eagles, who have lifted the AFCON trophy three times, are determined to add a fourth continental crown to their history.
Drawn into Group C, Nigeria will compete against Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda in the group stage. As part of their preparations, they are scheduled to face Egypt in a friendly match on Tuesday before heading to Morocco, where Eric Chelle’s side will begin their tournament journey against Tanzania on December 23.
