Former Alabama prep star reaches NFL receiving milestone

In his first two seasons in the NFL, Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins had 70 receptions for 927 yards and three touchdowns.

By catching a 4-yard pass for his second touchdown in Sunday’s 40-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, the former Clay-Chalkville High School star surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the third season in a row.

Collins entered Sunday needing 84 receiving yards to reach 1,000 in 2025, and he got 57 on the second snap of the game on a touchdown pass from quarterback C.J. Stroud.

Collins completed the game with three receptions for 85 yards and two touchdowns to push his season totals to 64 receptions for 1,001 yards and six touchdowns.

Collins’ third 1,000-yard receiving season in the NFL is the 31st produced by a player from an Alabama high school, including Hoover High School’s George Pickens in 2025. Pickens enters the Dallas Cowboys’ game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday night with 1,179 yards and eight touchdowns on 78 receptions this season.

Collins and Pickens are among the 10 alumni of Alabama high schools to record a 1,000-yard receiving season in the NFL.
