Former cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council Sean McKiernan arrives at court for sentencing

A former cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council has been jailed for two years and nine months, after stealing more than €172,000 from a mental health housing charity.

Seán McKiernan (44), with an address at Trinity Bungalow, Virginia Road, Bailieborough, Co Cavan, pleaded guilty to charges relating to thefts ranging from €700 to €6,600 from Navan Mental Health Housing Association.
