Illness Strikes Steelers Hours Before Monday Night Football

With the Baltimore Ravens’ 24-0 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers need to beat the Miami Dolphins on “Monday Night Football” to keep its lead in the AFC North before Week 16.

The Steelers earned a big 27-22 win over the Ravens in Week 14 to take a lead in the division, something the team needed after suffering three losses in its previous four outings.
Running back Jaylen Warren wasn’t a big contributor in the running game in the Week 14 win, rushing for just 13 yards on eight carries. However, he was Pittsburgh’s second-leading receiver with three receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Hours before the Steelers were set to play the Dolphins at Acrisure Stadium, Adam Schefter of ESPN revealed the team added Warren to the injury report due to an illness. He’s questionable to play against Miami.
“Steelers now have added RB Jaylen Warren to the injury report for tonight’s game due to an illness and are listing him as questionable,” Schefter posted on X.
Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Warren is hopeful he can play after getting fluids to help with his illness.
“Jaylen Warren woke up sick and is getting fluids, but I’m told he’s optimistic about playing tonight,” Pelissero posted on X.
Warren is the Steelers leading rusher with 652 yards and four touchdowns on 159 carries, averaging 4.1 yards per rush.
Pittsburgh’s rushing attack has been anemic this season, ranking 31st in total yards before Monday night’s game.
Kenneth Gainwell is the Steelers second-leading rusher with 371 yards and four touchdowns on 80 carries, averaging 4.6 yards per rush.
The Dolphins have a middle-of-the-pack rushing defense. They’ve given up 1,715 rushing yards, which ranks 20th in the league.
Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers could be more of a factor in Monday night’s game with Warren dealing with an illness.
